Meet the Doctors

Aaron Kassoff, M.D.

A native of New York City, Dr. Kassoff graduated from Forest Hills High School and left for Ithaca, NY, and Cornell University. He attended medical school in Syracuse at Upstate Medical Center, and did his post-graduate training in ophthalmology at Albany Medical Center. Upon completion he began his general practice of ophthalmology in Albany, concentrating on medical diseases of the retina, particularly diabetic complications and more recently macular degeneration as well. He created the first Diabetic Eye Clinic at Albany Medical Center, utilizing the first laser in the area.

An ongoing interest in clinical research led to participation as an investigator in two ten-year National Eye Institute studies in the treatment of diabetic eye disease and, more recently, a study of the use of antioxidants in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, in which over 400 volunteers participated in the Albany clinic for another ten years.
