Aaron Kassoff, M.D.

A native of New York City, Dr. Kassoff attended Cornell University and graduated medical school in Syracuse at Upstate Medical Center.  He trained in Ophthalmology at Albany Medical Center. He subsequently created the first Diabetic Eye Clinic at Albany Medical Center utilizing the first laser in the area.

An ongoing interest in clinical research led to participation as an investigator in two ten-year National Eye Institute studies in the treatment of diabetic eye disease and, more recently, a study of the use of antioxidants in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration.  This latter ten year study established the effectiveness of this approach in preventing progression of moderate macular degeneration.  He continues a practice of general ophthalmology concentrating on medical diseases of the retina.
